The last post was a bit too eager and early I think. We never went back to gym and my diet crashed. Well, what do you expect my crash diet in any case!! :)
Hopefully will start it back soon!!
Made a big decision in my life....but thats for the next post! (Maybe I should rename this as the warm-up post!! :))

3.4 and counting!
We finally went back to the gym today after 1 week of not going due to myraid reasons and 3 days of nature and work conspiring against us! But we went today...and hit the target of 700 kcal with ease. :D
And the best part was despite playing turant and cheating on the diet to some extent (blame Coffee day's yummy samosas and their new low-cal carrot and nut cake, and of course their coffee), I am 3.4 kgs lighter...hurrah!!
I think this is all credit to the 'strict' low-carb diet....and i am not missing any of the food I used to crave. The only pain is to think of new things to make, but Sathya is so enthusiatic that it makes me want to read 1000 pages to find the one receipe that blows him away (well, not literally! I would never want him to lose so much weight!)

The Foodie me!
Thought of a new idea yesterday...I have been whipping a variety of 'diet' food for the last few weeks. So, why not blog those for posterity?

Can you measure love?
Well, can you?
I am posting this despite the risk of sounding cliched. But an event that happened over the weekend has gotten me thinking about and how I can never ever fathom the depths of which my husband loves me!
He gave up his most precious weekend afternoon sleep (it cannot be called a siesta in his case :)) and waited for over 2 hours in front of a beauty parlour in the car, just so that he can be with me and we could have a coffee with me. Now, what do you call that?
Well, I kept squirming in my chair inside the parlour, silently willing the beautician to finish my pedicure fast..faster...so that I can get out of there and relieve the poor man of his wait. As a result of all the built up restlessness I took it out on him on why he came without calling first. Poor guy....
Sathya, I might not show it you in the many different ways that you do, but I really really do!! And you cannot measure that either! ;)

She stands alone...
This was a poem I wrote a while ago (2005 I think). It was an ode to one of my closest friend...
She stands alone on the shore
watching the waves roll over the sands
watching the small crab scurrying to stay dry
escaping the pull and pushes of the moon
She drifts alone
like the bottle tossed into the seas with a message
filled with love, yet need to make it journey on its own
To find a shore, a hand which may treasure it
or a hand that might toss it back again
She moves alone
like the solitary ship on high waves
braving storms and tides to destinations unknown
all under the command of a higher hand
She cries alone
like the solitary plant in her garden
with dew tear-drops of a lonely night
She walks alone
alone in a crowded world
But with faith
of the love she holds in her heart
of the quiet strength in her soul
of the trying but benevolent power above
She stands alone on the shorewatching the waves roll over the sands
watching the small crab scurrying to stay dry
escaping the pull and pushes of the moon
She drifts alone
like the bottle tossed into the seas with a message
filled with love, yet need to make it journey on its own
To find a shore, a hand which may treasure it
or a hand that might toss it back again
She moves alone
like the solitary ship on high waves

all under the command of a higher hand
She cries alone

with dew tear-drops of a lonely night
She walks alone

But with faith

One of my friend's fiance posted in the internet group he was a part of without reallying knowing who wrote it. :)
It got some good responses. The post is at

All it takes is a split second...
Yesterday I got the news of the sudden demise of a friend, Navneet.
Though we werent particularly close, we worked in the same team and shared some very good moments....
While it has been fairly easy to carry on with the usual things, I would be lying if I said it hasnt affected me. My thoughts keep going back to her and questioning why...and a huge sense of deja vu of two such similar events - Sirisha's death and Saraswati mami's. Both very sudden!
People often say 'it was so sudden that it is so surreal', but will it ever not be surreal? Be it accident or after some illness, the very fact of accepting someone is gone from your life forever is always so difficult to comprehend.
A person full of plans for tomorrow, wishes for the future, worries from the present, bills to pay, promises to keep or break....just stops being suddenly? One minute she is there, the next no longer there.....it like someone throws a switch......
All this brings in glaring realization the mortality of us. As I get more embroiled in our life and love, the more vunerable I get. The more I realize on how less control I have on anything...how much I am at the mercy of my destiny or the Supreme Being.
But thats the pleasure of life! And for any change in it, all it takes is a split second.
